What is Tsunami Lab? Tsunami Lab is an educational platform that allows you to simulate and visualize the effect of tsunamis. Unlike other tools, such as the videos of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the United States. (NOAA), Tsunami Lab allows you to interact and configure different scenarios.Tsunami Lab was designed by José Galaz, an industrial civil engineer with a major in mathematics, while working at the National Research Center for Integrated Natural Disaster Management (CIGIDEN). The application is born of the crossing of a need - educating people as one of the most effective measures to save lives in the face of the impact of tsunamis in Chile - and the use of new technologies. This is how, subsequently, a collaboration was born between CIGIDEN and Inria Chile to promote the development of this project.

The multidisciplinary and integrated team of CIGIDEN brings together researchers and professionals who work through six lines of research. Operating inside the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile . The Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile was founded on June 21, 1888 by Monsignor Mariano Casanova, Archbishop of Santiago. His goal was to create an institution capable of blending academic excellence and training based on the Christian doctrine.   The local and universal historical context that the Church faced when the University was founded inspired the institution to train professionals who led Christian lives and who could renew energies for the coming generations. The first Rector was Monsignor Joaquín Larraín Gandarillas and the first two faculties were Law, Physical Sciences and Math., At a global level, Chile is one of the most outstanding natural laboratories for the study of disasters of natural origin, where concepts and models can be put to the test. ...

HOLA! Its 3 weeks been here in Santiago ! I was looking for popular Macdonalds...this made me to fulfill , when I saw they Serve the Same standard Chicken burger ! It's a wonderful place for strolling, and each neighborhood has its unique flavor and tone. Head out for the day to take in the museums, grand architecture and pedestrian malls of the Centro, before an afternoon picnic in one of the gorgeous hillside parks that punctuate the city's landscape. Nightlife takes off in the sidewalk eateries, cafes and beer halls of Barrios Brasil, Lastarria and Bellavista, while as you head east to well-heeled neighborhoods like Providencia and Las Condes, you'll find tony restaurants and world-class hotels. With a growing economy, renovated arts scene and plenty of eccentricity to spare, Santiago is an old-guard city on the cusp of a modern-day renaissance. In the experience of 23 years of mine on this earth, I have discovered that the most annoying thing in this world is 'waiting'. I was sitting inside CIGIDEN Office Cabin  waiting for  to be called, as the Media team was searching for the best Interview Spot in the University Campus. As per my previous week experience at Valparaiso , I could see the Media team, the director & camera men were very skilled and selective on the lighting, brightness and the location selection. I was tensed, shivering with excitement (may be fear of making the presentation to be look great and as per IBM Standards) . At last the waiting period ended when some one asked me to go to the spot spectated. After some adjustment with my clothes and hairs, I was on the spot. Crew member were ready to welcome and make me equipped with Microphone, and the Interviewer was ready with Questions.... ALL the Very Best !! I should say this was good !!  

Chile is one of the most earthquake-prone countries in the world, mainly due to its location along the Pacific Ring of Fire, an area of intense volcanic activity and earthquakes. Chile is affected by drought, floods, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, forest fires, and earthquakes. Chile experienced the most devastating wildfire emergency in its history in January 2017. Wildfires spread affecting an estimated 1 million acres of vegetation. Rising sea temperatures and sea levels have affected those residing in Chile's coastal areas and river basins. Chile has made progress in the investment of resilient infrastructure, early warning systems, and urban planning which has prevented casualties in recent earthquakes despite being hit by high magnitude earthquakes. Chile has become more resilient to earthquakes. For example, in April 2014, a powerful 8.2 magnitude earthquake struck near Chile's northern coast, prompting a tsunami and strong aftershocks. The second day in Chile became our first day of work. The week started with the Kick Off, where the organizations had a panel discussion to share their expectations and get people to understand the challenges that they are facing on a routine basis. After the Kick off, we joined Mr. Bacigalupe, one of the principal investigators of CIGIDEN for a quick tour through Providencia before heading to work. The day was beautiful we saw the Andes for the first time. Mr. Bacigalupe showed us some colorful streets that did not match with the Santiago that we saw the day before. Mr. Bacigalupe highlighted the importance of memory when it comes to disaster prevention and how Chile "should learn from past experiences". He decided to take us to a fire station, where a fire man received us and showed us one of the first firetrucks in Chile. This fire station contains the painting that illustrates the fire of the Jesus Company Church in 1863 a disaster that seems to be forgotten. ...

The arrival of the Chile 10 team was interesting and exciting. Meeting all participants from around the globe in Santiago de Chile with a cloudy and rainy day waiting for us in the middle of Spring in the South Hemisphere. However, the weather did not impede us of having a good time in the city. PYXERA Global members organized a tour through the historical places downtown. The day started in La Moneda, which is the government house, luckily, we had the chance of witnessing the "Cambio de Mando," that is the shift of turn between the police guards at the palace. Then walked to Plaza de Armas, a fabulous location that remains in the same place since the colonial times. The next stop was Parque Forestal and the Fine Arts Museum, to finish in Barrio Lastarria, one of the trendiest neighborhoods in the country for lunch with our teams and project assistants.

Saturday started with planning the task , activities , meetings & workshops planned with lot of Interesting stuffed together for next 48 hours. City tour, in the drizzling rain and observing the change of Guard parade was really Good..

Friday was COOL : COLD : RAINING .. Finally Saw the Team started arriving, tired from travel, managed to meet over lunch...managed to get some rice to bring the energies back that I lost in 45 hours of Travel... Was really happy to see the happening around the globe with teams..

It was worm Welcome from nH Hotels here in Santiago, in 30 min ride from Airport to hotel it was not bad, lot of traffic signals , very low traffic  in the roads in the midnight ! During pre-work research I had google Mapped the IBM Office & hotel , so when I saw IBM Logo I felt like I am Home .

Coffee Break at Dubai...need to recharge..... as i finished my today's morning walk while reaching to my connecting gate....✈️......5 escalator,  6 lifts, 2 Shuttle train, and nice 30 min walk... Interesting fact, Dubai International Airport is a Salient Airport, no announcements 🤫🤫🤫😷😷🤐🤐happens here... So you have to be self directed !!!! Boarded to ✈️,  Happy to get 20 mb and 2 hour time frame to use internet from the sky while on airplane...let me use the idle time to write few points from today's... After the busy day of packing closure and finally sending those heavy boxes at the baggage drop counter ...its feel good.. Also the day was heavy and bit emotional 😭 where Asima & Akshit both were sad and started missing...  At the mean time i became successful is assigning 2 task to My son Akshit-1) Gravity Falls 2nd Journal review 2) Spanish writeup on how to introduce yourself...I feel these 2 task will take care of his moods... Also to note here he has supportive starting  from my visit for Notarization work to Malaysia MOF document legalization long queue and boring wait time.... Some of the scribble of Akshit, and few images to share here.. Let me stop here ...feeling hungry...looks like i have to survive with the Hindu Veg burger and Black tea....
